Daily Read (4/19/16)

This competing Jungle Book situation is really quite something.

Speaking of: pretty Jungle Book art!

The Durrells, based on Gerald Durrell’s memoirs, has been renewed by ITV. Any British readers watching this one? Thoughts?

Jurassic World 2 will be directed by J.A. Bayona, but to be honest, I’m partially mentioning this just to register my objection to the fifth movie in the franchise having “2” in the title.

I love reading about people’s pop culture influences; here’s Julie Plec of The Vampire Diaries.

Poll: Fall TV Coverage!

Fall TV is right around the corner – well, for me, I guess it started last night with Haven – so it’s time to decide what I’ll be covering here at Read the Screen. Based on last year’s interest levels, I’m going to keep writing about Bones and Elementary every week, and will cover those shows as completely as possible. I’m inclined to stick with Sleepy Hollow as well – thoughts? I could swap that out for something like The 100 or About a Boy, if you guys would rather read about those. Let me know. As you saw earlier today, I will be linking over to my Haven recaps at TheTelevixen, but that will be on my list of shows for news/videos/other general coverage, along with those above and The Vampire Diaries.

I’ve decided not to review any of the comics-based shows (Arrow, The Flash, S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter, Constantine) on a weekly basis, because I felt like I was in over my head last year with Arrow because I know so little of the source material. If you’re interested in those shows, though, let me know and I’ll try to keep up with general coverage and check in on them occasionally.

Thoughts? Opinions? Other obvious shows based on books that I haven’t listed above because it’s Friday and I’m tired?

The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Trailer: Move On

The Vampire DiariesSeason six of The Vampire Diaries premieres on October 2nd on the CW, and in this promo, “Move On,” Elena’s having a hard time moving on from (presumably dead) Damon – and several of the other characters don’t look like they’re doing too well either.

Speaking of, I’ve been thinking about what shows to cover this fall – there will be a whole post about this soon – and is this one people are interested in me posting more about? I’m probably not going to do weekly reviews, but I could definitely do more in the way of keeping up with news and checking in occasionally. Let me know!
