Good news! Starz has renewed Outlander; the second season will be based on the second book in Diana Gabaldon’s series, Dragonfly in Amber. I’d wondered how quickly the plot was going to move, so that’s good to know. Here’s part of the statement from creator Ron Moore, via Variety: “I’m thrilled at the prospect of doing another season of this show for Starz. This project has been a labor of love from the very beginning and it’s incredibly gratifying to see it succeed with viewers and critics alike.” Are you happy about this one?
Less than a month to go! In this video, author Diana Gabaldon and EP Ron Moore talk about the process of bringing Outlander to the screen.
- Zoe Saldana will star in the Rosemary’s Baby miniseries.
- Here’s a first look at images from The Strain.
- Stan Lee himself will appear on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and here’s a picture from filming.
- Check out the Black Sails opening credits.
- Nothing official yet, but Justified may end after season six.
- Here’s another picture from Outlander as well as an interview with showrunner Ron Moore.
- And here’s Damon Lindelof talking about The Leftovers.
Here’s a Friday afternoon treat for enthusiastic Outlander fans: Starz recently held a fan Q&A in New York with executive producer Ron Moore and author Diana Gabaldon, and now they’ve made the whole 49-minute video available for fans elsewhere to watch, as well. Enjoy!
Though I haven’t seen any official announcement, Deadline is reporting that Ron Moore’s adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander books is in fact going to series at Starz. Outlander is about a WWII nurse who accidentally travels back to the 1740s, where she winds up in the middle of all sorts of adventures and falls in love despite being married in her 1940s life. There’s no word on casting yet, but I’ll let you know as soon as there’s news. Excited about this, book fans? Worried? Who would be your ideal Claire or Jamie?
This is not an official green light or anything, but hey, positive steps: Deadline reports that Ron Moore has hired four writers for his Outlander adaptation at Starz: Ira Behr (Star Trek: TNG/DS9, Alphas), Toni Graphia (BSG, Grey’s Anatomy), Anne Kenney (L.A. Law, Switched at Birth), and Matthew Roberts (Caprica, Hellcats). Starz often orders things directly to series, so that might be what they’re considering here. Fingers crossed!
