Final Theatrical Trailer for Divergent

DivergentThe final trailer for Divergent has now been generally released, and I have to say it gives me hope. I love the way that it focuses much more on setting up the world and on Tris’s personal struggles than on the romance. Of course, the romance is an important part of the book and I want it to be well-executed in the movie, but I’m glad the marketing isn’t centering just on that.

Divergent Featurette: “Factions”

DivergentIn this featurette from Summit Entertainment, author Veronica Roth and stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet, Jai Courtney, Maggie Q, and Ashley Judd talk about the faction system that shapes the world of Divergent. The movie will be in theaters on March 21st.

Divergent Casting: Jai Courtney, Maggie Q, & More

Jai CourtneyThe cast for the Divergent movie is growing: The Hollywood Reporter recently broke the news that Maggie Q will play Tori, Zoe Kravitz will play Christina, and Ansel Elgort will play Tris’s brother Caleb. We’ve had earlier reports of Kate Winslet joining the cast as well, and Tris, of course, will be played by Shailene Woodley. And now Deadline is reporting that Jai Courtney of Spartacus has joined the cast. The Deadline story does not mention who Courtney will be playing, but as I was typing that, The Hollywood Reporter published a story claiming that he will be Eric. Interesting!

Thoughts on any of this casting? The Divergent movie will be in theaters in just over a year, on March 21st, 2014!
