Heh: Kenneth Branagh’s ‘Wallander’ is ‘almost too intense for everything’. Poor Wallander.

Drama! Russell Crowe and James Franco said they were making a movie based on Cormac McCarthy’s Blood Meridian but oops, they don’t actually have the rights. (Deadline’s phrasing in that story is hilarious as they chastise the “instantaneous online media climate.” Which is, you know, them.)

Idris Elba is reportedly joining Jessica Chastain in Aaron Sorkin’s adaptation of Molly Bloom’s memoir, Molly’s Game. I don’t care about poker but I DO like all of the people involved in this!

Jesse Peretz will direct an adaptation of Nick Hornby’s Juliet, Naked, which is a novel I LOVE, so fingers crossed.

James Franco to Star in J.J. Abrams/Stephen King Show 11/22/63

James FrancoThis is one of those headlines that made me simultaneously say “WHAT?” and “Well, of course.” James Franco has been cast in the lead role in J.J. Abrams’s adaptation of Stephen King’s novel 11/22/63, about an English teacher who time travels to try to stop the Kennedy assassination. The show will be coming to Hulu; no date has been set yet. James Franco’s As I Lay Dying Skipping Theaters

As I Lay DyingJames Franco’s movie adaptation of William Faulkner’s classic novel As I Lay Dying was originally scheduled to hit theaters tomorrow, September 27th. But now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s skipping the theatrical release and going straight to iTunes on October 22nd and VOD/DVD on November 5th. Along with Franco, the movie stars Tim Blake Nelson, Danny McBride, Logan Marshall-Green, and Ahna O’Reilly. Are you interested in seeing this one?
