FX announced yesterday that it has renewed The Strain, its Carlton Cuse vampire drama based on the books by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan. From del Toro’s statement, as quoted at Give Me My Remote: “Another season to spread the virus! Working with Carlton, Chuck and FX has been immensely rewarding and we have such sights to unveil in the upcoming episodes—the blood hits the fan on this one, mankind becomes an endangered species.” The show will return next summer.

It’s being widely reported by The Hollywood Reporter and others that FX has ordered a 13-episode series based on Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s trilogy The Strain. The vampire drama is set to star Corey Stoll and Mia Maestro, among others, and Carlton Cuse is producing with del Toro and Hogan. It is expected to air next summer.
