Well, this is an interesting development! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cassandra Clare’s The Mortal Instruments series is being relaunched as a TV series, from Constantin Film and writer-producer Ed Decter of Helix and In Plain Sight. No word on networks or casting yet. I’m excited about this, because I think the series would actually work much better as a TV show than as movies. Fingers crossed that it goes ahead!
According to a Hollywood Reporter exclusive, Constantin Films has an Infernal Devices movie – which would be a prequel to the upcoming The Mortal Instruments – in development already. Cassandra Clare’s trilogy, including Clockwork Angel, Clockwork Prince, and Clockwork Princess, is set in the same world of Shadowhunters and Downworlders as her Mortal Instruments series, but takes place in Victorian England. Stephanie Standitz is writing the screenplay. Personally, I’m quite excited, as I like the Victorian books even more than the modern day ones.
Here we go again: according to a Hollywood Reporter exclusive, Constantin Films has acquired film rights to Twilight fan fiction turned erotic novel Beautiful Bastard, by the writing partners known as Christina Lauren. “Beautiful Bastard tells the story of Chloe Mills, an MBA student interning at a media conglomerate who begins a torrid love-hate relationship with her boss, Bennett Ryan, who has just returned from France to take a prominent role in the family company.” The movie will be produced by Jeremy Bolt of The Three Musketeers and the Resident Evil franchise. So. That’s happening.
