Daily Read (5/25/16)

Great news: Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time adaptation is looking for non-white actors to play the lead roles.

Epix is working on a Get Shorty series, adapting Elmore Leonard’s novel (of which there is also a movie).

Fox 2000 has acquired Walt Becker’s YA fantasy novel Charlie Paris and the Young Ambassadors.

Kyle S. More will play John Hinckley Jr. in Bill O’Reilly’s Killing Reagan. (There’s some further casting at that link, too.)

A Wrinkle in Time Movie Update!

I’m not going to try to catch up on all the news and videos from while I was away, but I couldn’t let this one pass: One of my favorite books, Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time, is being adapted for Disney by Jennifer Lee, the writer and co-director of Frozen. This project had first been announced a few years ago, but a new writer being attached is progress, at least! About ten years ago there was a TV movie adaptation of the book, but I’ll admit I wasn’t particularly impressed by it. So fingers crossed that this goes better!
