According to a TVLine exclusive, Fox has ordered a script for a mystery series based on the Alex Delaware novels by Jonathan Kellerman, which start with When the Bough Breaks. The books – there are 28 of them now – feature Delaware, a child psychologist who works with the LAPD to solve crimes. I’ve read a few of them and like them a lot, and I think they could make for an interesting show!

Deadline reports that FX has ordered “comedic drama” pilot Hoke, starring Paul Giamatti. It’s based on Charles Willeford’s Hoke Moseley series of detective novels, which stars with Miami Blues. Set in Miami around 1985, the novels are about a detective in the midst of a midlife crisis. This isn’t Giamatti’s only project with FX: last month news broke that he’s pairing up with the network for a Civil War limited series based on Tony Horwitz’s Midnight Rising: John Brown and the Raid That Sparked the Civil War.

According to a Deadline exclusive, writer/producer Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars) is developing a modern take on Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables, written by Graham Norris. It’s “a primetime soap about a brilliant lawyer running a legal exoneration program who fights to evade the consequences of his own unjust conviction many years before. He must navigate high society, continue his mission of saving innocent people, and manage his tumultuous family and romantic life — all while staying one step ahead of a ruthless U.S. Attorney who refuses to let the ghosts of the past die.” The potential show has landed at Fox. Intriguing . . .
There’s not actually much new in this Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV spot from ABC, but hey, we can take a look anyway. The show will premiere on September 24th.
